Production Supervisor – Evening Shift

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Production Director, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for leading production activities and playing a key role in managing the production team in a dynamic work environment.

The supervisor must be highly vigilant in ensuring compliance with the company’s occupational health and safety rules and procedures.

Scope of Duties

  • Supervise and lead a team of approximately 15 to 20 employees in the plant, ensuring rigor in daily operations management;
  • Ensure that production goals are met in terms of efficiency and product quality;
  • Ensure that all necessary resources and raw materials are available for production;
  • Bring forward innovative options and/or ideas as part of continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Identify and control risks by ensuring the implementation of corrective and preventive measures for health and safety activities during the shift;
  • Maintain a healthy and positive work environment that promotes employee development through regular presence on the production floor;
  • Be responsible for team member evaluations, as well as their growth and learning;
  • Complete and sign production reports;
  • Manage scheduling in close collaboration with the Production Planner;
  • Verify and validate employee time punches;
  • Oversee activities related to conversion, in collaboration with Lead Operators;
  • Act as the main communication link between various departments (Human Resources, Management
  • Team, Production Planning, Maintenance);
  • Participate in improvement projects.

Job Requirements

  • DEC in Operations Management or other relevant training combined with experience;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a production environment;
  • Knowledge of tissue paper converting (an asset);
  • Proficiency with computer tools (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.);
  • Solid understanding of health and safety rules and procedures;
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and fairness;
  • Demonstrated leadership, dynamism, autonomy, and effective communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 per year

Technicien en automatisation et contrôle

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Automation Technician performs a wide range of duties to support the control systems of the plant’s various equipment. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing production needs, designing solutions to implement modifications and upgrades requested by system stakeholders, installing and maintaining equipment, developing and backing up software, troubleshooting and resolving system issues, and addressing process disruptions to ensure reliable and continuous operation of critical equipment.

Scope of Duties

  • Comply at all times with Sunset Converting’s Health and Safety policies and procedures, and maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and colleagues to fully understand and uphold the company’s ethics and values.
  • Prepare preliminary procedure documents and contribute to the development of SOPs and SWPs (SOP = Standard Operating Procedure; SWP = Standard Work Procedure).
  • Correct, modify, and optimize PLC programs and associated HMI graphics related to minor system changes or issues.
  • Assist in developing programming standards and data presentation standards.
  • Participate with the project team in the implementation of new equipment.
  • Support operators and other system stakeholders in resolving daily operational challenges or production interruptions.
  • Comply at all times with control system change management procedures.
  • Assist in the training and development of other technicians and interns.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve communication network failures.
  • Support operators in developing plans, programs, control sequences, and HMI screens to improve data accessibility and process performance.
  • Maintain backups of all software, programs, as-built drawings, and any other system modifications.
  • Ensure system integrity using robust antivirus software and secure machine access protocols.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new hardware and software.
  • Modify, force, or bypass interlocks only when approved.

Job Requirements

  • A DEC (College Diploma) in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Electronics is strongly preferred (or any equivalent experience deemed acceptable).

    Minimum of 3 years of experience in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley and Siemens or similar):

    • Siemens Step 7

    • WinCC

    • Simatic Series: S300–S400

    Knowledge of Drive/VFD configuration and adjustment, as well as troubleshooting:

    • PowerFlex Series

    • Mitsubishi

    Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics.

    Strong knowledge of various communication types and protocols
    (Fiber optic, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Modbus).

    Knowledge of the Electrical Code.

    Salary:
    $32.00/hour to $46.00/hour

Mechanic

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager and will have as main responsibilities: The maintenance of facilities, equipment and premises, while respecting the Health and Safety program implemented by the company.

Scope of Duties

  • Rigour, excellence in the execution of mechanical tasks;
  • Carry out repairs, adjustments and maintenance of various equipment on  different shifts (day, evening, night and weekends).
  • Ensure daily cleanliness of the premises and good practices to maintain the facilities (equipment)
  • In the event of a major breakdown, be able to make an initial diagnosis and establish priorities, undertake the work and, if necessary, communicate with the resource persons according to the analysis of the situation
  • Be able to write a detailed intervention report and propose permanent solutions
  • Carry out inspection routes, when requested
  • Master the work order process
  • Participate in the preventive maintenance program
  • Carry out repairs on components in the workshop
  • Collaborate in the resolution of problems related to the efficiency and improvement of equipment
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Job Requirements

  • DEC in Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent diploma;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a plant environment;
  • Demonstrate rigour in the execution of tasks and the transmission of information;
  • Be responsible for implementing actions by following a problem-solving process in case of repetitive breakdowns or equipment failure;
  • Demonstrate a sense of initiative by being responsible for deepening and mastering the required knowledge (be proactive and use all opportunities/time available to favour the acquisition of new knowledge) ;
  • Know and apply all rules, procedures and regulations relating to health and safety; 
  • Be able to identify risks and act effectively in case of emergency;
  • Have a toolbox with a minimum of equipment for an industrial application.

Salary:
$31.00/hour to $43.00/hour

Line Operator

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the supervisor of his shift, the Line Operator will be required to perform various tasks related to production operations and ensure that they run smoothly.

Scope of Duties

  • Be alert and ensure that equipment never runs out of raw materials, such as Winder, Case Packer and robotic equipment;
  • Be meticulous and ensure that equipment is calibrated and adjusted according to specifications;
  • Ensure the quality of the products according to the standards and requirements of the plant;
  • Operate and monitor various production equipment in our departments;
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment;
  • Apply the required health and safety procedures;
  • Work safely, making no compromises on this point;
  • Be resourceful and respectful of regulations and procedures;
  • Open to receiving training in order to be very polyvalent.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A person without a high school diploma, but with sufficient experience could be considered;
  • Be punctual;
  • Be recognized as a safe person who does not compromise on safety;
  • Good physical resistance and the ability to work safely in a team environment;
  • Autonomy, resourcefulness and availability for special calls or overtime if needed;
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize himself and his work environment.

Salary:
$27.00/hour to $32.50/hour

Line Helper

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under the leadership of the Production Shift Supervisor, the Line Helper will work as needed in various departments of the plant.

Scope of Duties

  • Assist the line operator in the various tasks related to the assigned production line;
  • Perform various basic maintenance tasks on equipment and in the plant;
  • Make sure to check the quality of the finished product;
  • Participate in continuing education;
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Be proactive, organized and punctual;
  • Possess experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Physical fitness, dexterity, attention to detail and initiative;
  • Availability to work overtime, if required;
  • Have a good communication with the colleagues.

Salary:
$23.00/hour to $28.50/hour

Forklift Operator

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Lead shipper, the incumbent is responsible for the handling of goods stored in the plant as well as equipment and products received.

Scope of Duties

  • Load, unload and move products and materials, manually or with the aid of handling accessories;
  • Execute other material handling duties such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking a variety of products and materials;
  • Sort and place materials or objects on shelves, racks or bins according to organizational standards;
  • Organize the handling and work area in an orderly fashion at all times;
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment;
  • Maintain constant communication with the receiving/shipping team and report any discrepancies;
  • Operate and maintain storage vehicles and equipment in a preventive way;
  • Any other related tasks, as required.

Job Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in shipping/receiving handling;
  • Certified forklift operator with knowledge of pallet trucks, double reach truck, counterweight;
  • A valid Class 1 driver's license is required to use the company's truck to transport materials between storage locations;
  • Must be able to operate safely and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Salary:
$24.00/hour to $29.50/hour
